DATE OF RELEASE: May 1, 2008 TOPIC: "Senior Citizens Dinner 2008"




The Chittenango Lions, in conjunction with the Town of Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department, held it's 34th Senior Citizens Dinner on April 27th at the American Legion Post #1287.  The Lions purchased, cooked, and served the food.  The Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Leisure Time Club (local Senior Citizens organization), handled the reservations, plans the entertainment, and honors the local senior citizen of the year.

For 2008 Michael and Donna Lynch were honored as senior citizens of the year in the Town of Sullivan.  They were recognized with a plaque presented by Robin McCombie, Senior program coordinator.  Town Councilman Tom Kopp and village deputy mayor Mike Sudol read proclamations.  Leisure Time Club President Bea Hebertpresented a gift a gift from the organization.

Twenty Lions, plus several spouses, hosted the roast beef dinner for over 100 guests.  Linda Llewellyn was dinner chairperson, and Dennis Duggleby headed up the cooking.  The Senior Recognition Day program concluded with entertainment.  The Chittenango American Legion Post #1287 provided the facilities.

Remember When? - The day prior to the Senior Citizens Dinner, several Lions gathered at the Chittenango American Legion to peal 100 pounds of potatoesj ust like it used to be.  Pictured L-R are Lions Lee Finkle, Mike Lynch, Charlie Grover, and Jack Kern.  Not pictured are Lions Buck LeMessurier, Judy Clobridge, and Lion Judy's daughter.
